25. Food Tech

WALT : Do some work

Talofa Kotou Katoa,

This week for tech we changed into different rooms and now my group is in Food Tech. We were previously in DVC which is like art but it stands for Design Visualise Communications. Our tech teacher’s name is  Whea Leigh ( Pronounced like lee ) she is our food tech teacher for the term. Firstly she introduced herself and then she told us that before we cooked ( which was in two weeks ) we needed to know the basics of cooking. Basically she said that for the past two weeks that we will be attending tech we were going to be doing paper work. And then after she had submitted the role she handed out some paper work and she explained why we needed to do the work. It’s because we needed to know what the utensils and other available things that we were going to need.

One of the many paper work she assigned us to was we had four pieces of paper. Three of them had different pictures of utensils or oven tops or ovens etc. Then on one of the papers that she gave us it had a checklist and it had all of these name of utensils and we had to write the name of the utensil then we had to put the correct name under the one we think its called. Then after we put a name down we would tick off the box and that means we already did that. And that was all we did for Tech.

Thank you for reading my blog I hope you have a good rest of your day / week and remember to spread the gospel 🔥.

25. Technology – Revision

Shalom Everyone,

Last week for technology we tie dyed some white shirts in DVC ( Design Visual Communications ).  Firstly we needed to start with the basics which I mean we needed to make sure that we knew the kind of designs we  could do onto our shirts. Here are some pattern names that we discovered. Spiral, Bullseye, Stripes, Crumple and Sunburst we had a choice to do one of these patterns to recreate onto our shirts or if we wanted to do our own design. I went with the bullseye  pattern this is how it looks on the shirt.

This is what I wanted to re – create. I chose this because it looked easy  to do. So we needed rubber bands, Tie Dye and white shirts ( We could pick our sizes ).  Then we had to tie the rubber bands onto our shirt in a special way which makes the pattern. Then we had to tie dye it so it looked colourful then we needed to let it soak so we needed to make sure that we added a lot of dye. And that is what we did for Tech.

Thank you for reading my blog I hope you have a good rest of your day / week and remember to spread the gospel.

Painting On Plastic DVC Tech 25.

WALT: Recall what we did at Technology.

Assalamualaikum Everyone,

This week for Tech we did some painting on some paper it was like laminate paper. It was a bit like stain painting that you can see in the church at the top. I will put down a photo so that you can see what it looks like.

We did something like this but not on glass it was on plastic. Firstly we needed to make sure that we had a design we could choose if we wanted to copy a design that the teacher had printed off or whether we wanted to do our own designs. We did our designs straight onto the  plastic and if we made a mistake we needed to take a whiteboard pen and then go over the mistake and then erase it off and it will come off. I chose a rectangular border and it had a flower design in the middle. I decided to paint the flower pedal red and then I painted it a light colour and dark to make it stand out when the sun shines on it. When we wanted to paint we needed to  put Mod Podge on it.

This helps the paint to stick to the plastic and makes the paint more liquid and makes it more able to stick onto the plastic. Something I learnt from DVC or Technology is that sometimes when we mess up we can just erase it but sometimes it can’t be hard to erase.

Key Chains DVC Tech .25

Malo E Lelei Everyone,

This week for Tech we made some DIY Key Chains from the beginning. Firstly our DVC Teacher told us we had to make some Key Chains from scratch. Firstly we needed to sketch out some ideas or patterns that we wanted to print out onto our real papers. We needed to make sure that we make the patterns closer so that we can make more Key Chains. So we needed to think of some patterns to draw on our draft paper and then transfer it to our paper that shrinks and makes the Key Chain small. There was two different types of sides on the paper. We needed to draw our patterns on the side that felt like paper. I had made about 2-4 Key Chains at DVC Technology. I made a Hyperpigmentation, Tuvaluan Flag and some others which I forgot what I made it into. So now I learnt how to make Key Chains from scratch. To colour it in we needed to use coloured pencils for the colouring because if we used felt then the colour would be gone. We needed to put the Key Chains in an oven so that it would shrink into mini Key Chains. And that was what we had done for Technology this week it was hard but easy.

Thank you for reading my blog I hope you have a good rest of your day and remember to spread the gospel.

Overlapping Painting DVC 25.

WALT : Overlapping painting

Bonjour Everyone,

This week for technology we were still using clay for DVC which means Design Visual  Communications. We had made clay modelling last week for Tech and I had made a basic pottery pot and it was a bit cricked when it had dried.  We had to  paint them into patterns we wanted to make it look like and we also had some inspiration which we could turn our bowls into a fruit looking pattern which can make it look fun to use. But our DVC teacher said it was not good to eat out of it it was not toxic but it is not for people to eat out of.

When we painted we had to use a pattern that we liked and wanted to replicate. I chose to replicate a kiwi bowl and it was kind of good but it still needs some practice to perfect it. We needed to make sure that we made it look a bit realistic to what we were trying to copy. My kiwi was not that good because the seeds were about too big and the bowl that I  made was a bit unsymmetrical. I finished but then I  decided that I was going to add a face on both sides to make it look a bit more interesting. I do not have a photo of my pottery because I did not have anything to take the picture on and I broke it today in the morning.

Thank you for reading my blog I hope you have a good rest of your day and remember to spread the gospel.

TECH DVC 2 .25

WALT: Recall what we learned during TECH.

WHAT: When we can identify the main highlights.

———————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Kia Orana Reader,

For the first two weeks of Term 1 we have been going to Technology this is where we get into 3 groups with the mix of year 7’s and 8’s. Then we were in a class which was Food Tech, Hard Materials and DVC ( Which means Design Visual Creations).

A Highlight that I had a TECH was that we got to use the clay. Why was this a Highlight? It was a highlight because we are practising the basics of modelling the clay. We were making refrigerator magnets to stick onto our fridge. Firstly the teacher had to cut the clay into a small handful of chunks and then we passed it down until everybody had a piece. After we got the clay we squeezed it in our hands to make it soft so that when we crave out the shapes or what we wanted to carve onto our clay. Then we had to roll them into smooth balls and press them down so that they were about one centimetre and if there were any cracks on the side we had to put water which makes the crack dissolve back into the clay.

But we had to make sure that we had a space at the back to put the magnet on. I couldn’t think of ideas so then I looked at other peoples work and then I thought of making a bunny head and that would be good cause then I could stick the magnet at the back of the bunnies head. So I started carving out the bunnies ear and head. Lastly we had to put it onto this rack so that it could dry and it will be stable enough so that we can use it to use as magnets on our fridges.

And that was the process of how we did our clay modelling. This taught me to be respectful to other peoples stuff and that we have to respect other peoples rules. It has also taught me self control if we can continue to control ourselves then this tells our teacher that we can move onto more challenging stuff or something fun.

Thank you for reading my writing I hope you enjoyed reading it and have a good rest of your day and remember to spread the gospel.
