25. Papakura High School Performance

Talofa Lava Everyone,

Some Students from Edmund Hillary School, Papakura intermediate, Calvin Road, Kererū Park and Papakura High School were given an opportunity to perform their dances on stage in front of the schools. Our school did a Kapa Haka performance and a Samoan performance. I was in the Samoan dance our instructor was one of the teachers and her name was Telesie. She was Samoan so she taught us a dance that we did for our performance at high school.

The highlight from the  schools performing was when we got to eat the sausages sizzles but my other highlight was when we got to see the high school kids do their Kapa Haka and their Haka because it was amazing to see them represent their culture loud and proud. And all of the other performances were cool to watch because of the way they get to represent their culture in different ways whether it’s in dancing or singing or their actions. We also had an MC speaker whose name was Romeo.

There were some exciting activities that the people set up. There was a kind of guess how much lollies there is in the jar but actually you needed to answer the question which was “What does Financial Literacy mean to you”. And the students from our school had a go and in the end 2 of our students won the prize and they decided to split the lollies between themselves but they also shared with the others.

After all of the performances there was a sausage sizzle and all of the schools could have one each or more if they wanted more. Some of us also brought some lunch so we could eat the sausage sizzle and then our lunch. We had a nice feast. Then Romeo entertained us with his voice he sang to the kids and the family and the people inside his voice were majestic he sang hallelujah and monsters.   And then for the last activity for the performance Romeo told all of us that we had to walk down the cat walk ( Which is where you walk down this run way and pose if you want to ).  And that was all we did for the performance and what I saw and did.

Thank you for reading my blog I hope you have a great rest of your day / week and remember to spread the gospel with everyone ✝.

25. Weekly Recap

Bula Vinaka Everyone,

This week we have been learning about prime numbers and composite numbers. For me to learn about this is a bit easy because I can identify the difference between these two words and their numbers and other things associated with it. You may be thinking that we don’t know how to do these. Well we finished a test and it shows that I know my prime and composite numbers better than I thought. And that is what we are working on for maths.

For writing we made 4 different DLO’s about a place and some important people. It was cool to learn about them and how they are famous and what they did because it was amazing learning about others and their strengths. If you want to learn more about that then go to my other blog post and take a look at my DLO’s that I created. Because there is a whole blog post dedicated to all of my biographies. So go on and check that out after.

And for reading we read about the Maori Battalion. The Maori Battalion is important and should not be forgotten because it is important to our land and how we treat it and how we can help it. And that was all we did last week.

Thank you for reading my blog I hope you have a good rest of your day and remember to spread the gospel 🔥.

25. Biography DLO

WALT : Make DLO’s about the 4 topics on the board.

Sawadee Everyone,

This week our teacher has assigned us to make 4 DLO about these important people and important moments. The first one was Sir Edmund Hillary. We needed to write a DLO about him and what he is famous for and what he did to become famous. Sir Edmund Hillary was the first ever person to climb Mount Everest. There was many facts about Sir Edmund Hillary that we found. In this certain task I worked with two other people Susana and Danielle we all came up with very good ideas about what Sir Edmund Hillary had history with. This is what it turned out to be. Click the link down below to have a sneak peak.

Susana, Sala – Sir Edmund Hillary

For my second one I did a Matariki one because it is Matariki very soon. Our teacher made all the decisions with the students helping pick what topics and people and things we could make DLO’s about. My Matariki one is on a google drawing and I completed it all by myself. I learnt more about Matariki the more I wrote about my DLO’s. Click the link down below to see my work.

Sala – Matariki

For my third I did Sir Bom Gillies. This man is famous for being the last soldier that survived during the 28th Maori Battalion. He was a good man known for his deeds and what he did for his land. He fought hard trying to fight for his land so they were able to live in freedom. I made another DLO about him so here is the link that you need to press and you will be able to read some facts about him.

Sala – Sir Bom Gillies

And that was all I did I didn’t have enough to make the last one but he is a great story writer and his name is Maurice Gee. If I had more time I definitely would have made a DLO about all of his books because they seem interesting and I would read them myself. And if you liked my DLO’s then I will probably make more and you could be able to read them and learn more interesting facts about the person or event I wrote about.

Thank you for reading my blog I hope you have a good rest of your day / week and remember to spread the gospel 🔥.

25. Ice Sensation

Hello Everyone,

A few weeks in the early weeks of term 2 we did an experiment with ice. We needed to use our five senses to describe how we felt the ice in the palms of our hands. We needed to write a descriptive writing of how we felt about the ice. I enjoyed writing about the ice because it was interesting of the ideas that came up in my mind and what I could have written about. I talked about being in a forest and other things that live in a jungle or forest.

I will add my story down here for you to read.

25. Beyond The Lines

Morena Everyone,

For writing this week we have been learning around the Maori Battalion. We watched a video that was based on the Maori Battalion. Basically the video was about these 2 boys whose granddad was in the Maori Battalion war.

So they read some of the letters that the granddad wrote to his beloved wife and they would pretend like they were in the war with them. And instead of human soldiers the soldiers were made out of paper. And the soldiers kept on getting shot one by one on the battlefield. The 2 boys were brothers one younger than the other. The younger one fell down on the battlefield and could not get up so the older brother helped the younger one get up and they needed to hide for protection. Their main goal was to find their granddad in the battlefield and they found him and he was safe and sound and then the video went back to the granddad and the 2 boys and the granddad’s wife.

So after we watched the video our teacher instructed us to make a descriptive writing piece and name it Beyond The Lines because the video was named Beyond The Lines so why not name the writing Beyond The Lines. She also said that we need to write like we were one of the characters in the video. So down here I will add my writing for you guys to take a look and comment if you have any questions or any recommendations for my writing or blog.

Fractions, Decimals & Percentages

Assalamualaikum Everyone,

This week for maths we have been learning about percentage fractions and decimals. We are continuing from last week’s work because we still need to learn some more about fractions decimals and percentages. We needed to convert decimals into fractions or fractions into decimals or fractions into decimals or fractions into percentages. It was a bit hard when you first try to understand it but when you constantly keep on doing it you are able to get the hang of it and then it becomes a piece of pie. And the name of changing percentages into fractions or the other different ways we call it convert or converting. I have created a DLO for you guys to take a look at what we have done and how we did it.

Math DLO

As you are able to see those were our main focus this week it was hard but overtime it started to warm up and it felt good to know that we are able to convert these easily.

Thank you for reading my blog I hope you have a good rest of your day / week and remember to spread the gospel ✝.

25. First Aid – ST John’s In School

Bula Vinaka Everyone,

On Monday the beginning of Week 5 we had company come to our school and talk to us about some safety of first aid and what to do in a horrible situation. So her name was Sue and she told us some life explaining safety tips and tricks. DRSABCD you might be thinking why are all of those letters bunched up ? Well they have a meaning to each letter.

D stands for Danger which means if someone has trouble then we need to check the surroundings so you also do not get injured

R stands for response we need to check for a response and if they do not respond to your commands or questions then you need to follow the rules that are going to be under this.

S stands for send for help this is obviously for calling for help but if their is no one around you and you do not have a phone then you need to use your voice so others can hear you and are able to call for safety.

stands for airway which is checking to see if  the person needs their airway to be cleared or not.

stands for breathing to check if the person is breathing to check you put your hand under their nose and you can feel air coming out and look at their stomach and to see if it is going up and down then that means that they are breathing.

stands for CPR and most of you guys should know what CPR is so to find the middle of the chest you put your hand under your armpit or their armpit and then drag it in between their chest.

stands for Defibrillator this is a kind of machine that doctors use to try and make the heart not be shaken up because it is a possible chance that the heart if the patient could be shaking.

Now I am going to add my DLO down here for you to have a look and learn some more things about the first aid.

Thank you for reading my blog I hope you have a good rest of your day / week and remember to spread the gospel 🔥.

25. Weet – Bix Slices

WALT : Measure and make Weet – Bix Slices 🥮.

Assalamualaikum Everyone,

This week on Monday our teacher had a fun activity for us. She told us that we were going to be baking but then she told the boys that they were misbehaving that they were not going to bake because they had a bad attitude and showed disrespect. So she told the boys that they had  to  sit this one out and they and they needed to finish off their work. Then she gave them a chance to redeem themselves by answering Whea Lorraine’s questions but they all hesitated to not answer so they had to finish their work. I will add both of my writing reports on the bake.

Baking Report #1  This one is the group baking Report one.

Baking Report #2  And this is the one I created by myself.

And if you take a look at the one I made then you can see that I have added the 5 w’s and the one H.

To find out what we did and made then you can read what we did on the writing reports that I made and our group made.

Thank you for reading my blog I hope you have a good rest of your day / week and remember to spread the gospel 🔥.

25. Weekly Learning Recap

WALT: Complete all our work and blog it on one blog.

Ni Hao Everyone,

This week for reading we have been learning about the Maori Battalion. Firstly we needed to make sure that we read the article so that we know what information we needed to add to our DLO ( Digital Learning Object ). Some facts that I learnt are that the Maori Battalion started in 1940 – 1945. I also have some more facts and I will add my DLO below this.

Maori Battalion

For math we have been learning about fractions, decimals and percentages. Firstly we needed to know what this is and how we can use this in our math. We were assigned to do our math from the math books. They have different units and topics.  We need to work on three pages which are around percentages decimals and fractions. We looked more into fractions. We learn this stuff because we have tests and our math is based on the questions on the test. And that was all that we did for math.

For writing we worked on our ice story. We needed to use our five senses to  explain how the ice felt in our hands. We needed to do descriptive writing about the ice. I will add a link down here for you to read about my story and how I felt about the ice.
